Consultation and Study Groups

At the current time, the following study groups are being offered by PGI faculty members and other PGI certified gestalt therapists. All hours of participation in these groups count for the supervision requirement in the certification process.

Lynne Jacobs is offering an Online Consultation Group on alternate Wednesdays, from 4:30-6, Pacific time. The group is open to those with prior gestalt therapy training. She has a few openings remaining. The fee will be $75 per session. The format will be flexible, depending on the interests of the members. It can include case discussions, readings, and dyad work, adaptable to desires of the moment. The first meeting willI be April 10.  Lynne can be reached by email.

Michelle Seely and Ren Barnebey are leading an Online Relational Gestalt Therapy Dyad Practice & Supervision Workshop starting May 6th. The group will meet twice a month on Mondays at 9:00 am – 11:00 am PST for 6 meetings. Emphasis will be on identifying, practicing, and articulating the foundational concepts of RGT in the work. Each session will consist of therapist/client dyads and theoretical discussion. Active participation is required each week. Short readings may be offered to enhance learning, but the focus will be on skill building and integration of theory. For more information, visit this webpage. Christine Campbell is leading an Online Consultation and Study Group two Fridays per month from 11:00-12:45 Pacific Time. Each meeting includes discussion of a reading on current Gestalt therapy theory and practice, as well as a case consultation, in which the focus is on the therapist’s presence from a dialogic perspective. Friedemann Schulz, PGI faculty emeritus, is leading a monthly Online Gestalt Consultation and Study Group  starting  September 5th. The group will meet the first Thursday of the month through May 1st, 2025, from 9 am to 10:45 Pacific Time.  The group is for those who would like to enhance their psychotherapeutic skills and would like to articulate their style of therapy within a solid theoretical frame.  For more information contact Friedemann at  (310) 795-6968 or by email.                                                                                                                                                                                                  Friedemann Schulz, MA, MFT, for many years used to be the faculty chair of the Pacific Gestalt Institute (PGI) and he is past-president of the Gestalt Institute of Los Angeles (GTILA). He has taught at Antioch University, and he is a long-time supervisor for mental health professionals. Friedemann has conducted workshops in the US, Germany, Peru and Mexico that draw from eastern philosophies and gestalt therapy principles.

Mary Ortenburger is forming a 6-person Online Gestalt Consultation Group. The group would meet every other week for a series of 4 weeks (a commitment must be made for 4 consecutive consultations and will not be refunded if the group is missed). This group will be focused on case consultation and discussion using relational gestalt therapy.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Mary Ortenburger, LMFT, CEDS-S, C-IYAT is a certified gestalt therapist, a certified EMDR therapist and consultant, a certified eating disorder therapist and supervisor, and certified yoga therapist. She is also training in Somatic Experiencing. Jen Leong is offering an Online Study and Consultation Group. The group will meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays from 11am to 1pm beginning April 18, 2024. Each meeting will include discussion of a Gestalt reading and case consultation. Consultation will focus on the therapist’s awareness and the practice of Dialogue and Phenomenology. Jen also offers online individual supervision/consultation for new Gestalt Therapists.                      Jen is a PGI Certified Gestalt Therapist in private practice. She is also an adjunct instructor at Antioch University, LA where she has taught Gestalt Therapy continuously since 2020. Most recently, Jen joined PGI as a guest trainer for the 23-24 training year, providing supervision for trainee’s dyadic work.
